3 Ways Beachbody Coaching has Changed My Life

When I first signed up to be a Beachbody coach, I never thought that I would experience a mental shift as quickly as I have. Not only have I physically changed thanks to the amazing accountability but I have also mentally changed.

Becoming a Beachbody Coach is about so much more than sales and hitting sales goals. In fact, that is probably the last thing anyone on my team will tell you. Becoming a Beachbody coach is about helping others, helping yourself, and becoming a better overall person. Let me explain.

Becoming a Better Person

Growing up, I used to read a ton. I was proud to be on the leaderboard for reading 25 books each summer at the library. I was proud to be so involved with everything I did. But at some point, not sure if it was college or during my adjustment period in life, I stopped making time for me. Stopped looking for ways to improve me not just physically but mentally.

I looked for excuses to not pick up a book. I never made the commitment. Thanks to Beachbody’s team of amazing managers and coaches, they reminded me that you have to love yourself if you are going to love anyone else.

So each day, I have made a commitment to read at least 25 of personal development book. Right now that is in the form of books my CTO gave me on team development and where teams struggle. I finished the book, UnFairly Labelled as well. This was something I had been procrastinating reading for work in just 4 days because of my commitment.

Helping Myself

How can you help others if you don’t have self-love? For so long, I have been questioning things in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I have a great life and I truly love it; however, I have found that I am bored in my job, unhappy with the current direction of my career, and could see that it was bringing me down physically.

I was okay with turning off the alarm in the morning and skipping my workouts. This led to me being okay with saying it is okay to eat ice cream every night. I was okay with making excuses for myself and letting them run my life vs. taking accountability over it.

In the past 2 months, my mindset has totally shifted. I have gotten up at 4:30 or 4 am every day this week. What, who am I? I am committed to my workouts and that includes training for my half marathons in October and my programs that are allowing my body to totally be changed. Not only am I working out hard but I am also committed to a healthy eating plan that does not count calories. Finally, I am committed to celebrating the non-scale victories with things other than food.

In 2 months, I am down over 10 pounds, my bloat is gone and I am feeling so much more confident. I have met amazing women in my coaching team and I am happier than I have been in a long time.

Helping Others

Now comes the fun part. I have always loved coaching whether it was the 8th-grade basketball team that I coached when I was a Senior in High School or my Nichols basketball team now. I love seeing people improve and reach their goals. The best part about coaching for me is when you see the light go on in someone’s head and you know they really get it. My second favorite part is when you see the look on their faces that they have fallen in love with what you are talking about.

As a Beachbody Coach, my role is to help people find that passion and self-love when it comes to their health and fitness. Similarly to my basketball coaching, it is my job to show up every day and share my passion. My individual goal is to help women. Brian and my goal regarding our business together is to help couples find happiness through healthy activities.

I would not be able to do this without the support of Brian. He is my rock. I am so glad to have a supportive partner who also cares just as much about his health and wellness as I do.

Why Beachbody

So many people are skeptical about Beachbody. They think it is just a scam. And you know what, some Beachbody coaches are just in it to make money. You want to make sure you are tied into a team that is about self-love. This team will be focused on helping you reach your goals. Not one that just cares about making a profit.

My team is designed to foster a culture of accountability. We have over 300 coaches in our network to help you reach your goals. If you want to start feeling better about yourself whether it is physically or mentally, I promise that shift can happen and it can happen faster than you think with the right team. I want to help you to reach your goals. I would love for you to share them with me, please leave me a comment or send me a private message.

My Goals

I set a goal of helping 100 women by June 2018, will you be one of them?

Whether you are interested in becoming a Beachbody coach or just want an accountability partner for just yourself or you and your spouse, I would love to talk to you. Leave me a comment or send me an email. I promise, when you find that feeling of being happy with yourself, you will not want to let it go.

Together, we can make Fitness Breezy.

Beachbody Coaching Tax Write Offs: Part 2

In part two of our series regarding Beachbody Coaching Tax Write Offs, we want to talk about what doesn’t count in terms of a tax write off. We also want to talk about the gray area that exists. In part one of the series; we talked about what you could write off. But just as important if you are considering getting into coaching is what you can’t write off come tax season. After all, no one wants the IRS knocking.

Again, let me remind you, I am not a tax professional and for detailed questions, you should consult a tax professional. However, I am a Beachbody coach and have been completing my freelance taxes now for nearly two years. I understand what I can write off on my itemized deductions and want to share what I know with you as I do with all of my coaches.

What doesn’t count as a Beachbody Coaching Tax Write Off?

Shakeology

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to write off that miracle formula? But sadly, this is considered a personal use item even when you use it in your social media.

The exception to this is if you are promoting a recipe in a video or blog!

Performance Line

No, you can’t write off your liquid gold that gets you going in the morning before your workout. Wouldn’t it be nice if the government rewarded you for getting up early and showing enthusiasm in those Instagram stories?

Athletic Clothing

Ahhh again, wouldn’t it be great if the government wanted to pay you for working out? Sadly, this is not the case. Every time you shop at Nike or Under Armour or even LuLu, don’t plan on writing it down on your taxes. These are personal use items even when they appear in your Beachbody Advertising.

The exception to this is if you are purchasing something with the Beachbody logo on it and using it in a public way for advertising!

The Grey Area of Beachbody Coaching Tax Write Offs

The Home Office

Probably the trickiest area when it comes to tax write offs is a home office. Now, this is not exclusive to Beachbody Coaches. Many freelancers have trouble with this. Ask too much, you can trigger an audit and ask too little, you might be missing out on a huge deduction.

When it comes to your Home Office, this needs to be an exclusive area in your home to your business. Meaning, you are meeting your clients in the office or you are doing your business from this area. If you are working out from your basement, this probably will not fly with the IRS as your home office even though you are in the health and fitness world.

Why may you ask? They may see this as an office space; however, it will probably not be exclusively used. If there is a couch or pool table or other items that appear in those sweaty selfies you are hashtagging, remember that is all public information!

But if your office is a dedicated workspace exclusive to your home and business, this is the perfect case and point for a tax write off. My coaching business takes place in our smallest bedroom and I have been careful to document my office on my social media posts. There is also no other purpose it serves other than for my contracting business (both Beachbody Coaching and Social Media Consulting). Since both businesses are filed on the same tax form, I am able to write off the office as one.

Beachbody On Demand

This is a question you are going to want to ask your tax professional if you can write off your annual subscription. Why is this in the gray area? You are using it for personal use and personal gain. However, the other piece of this is that you are probably showcasing it in your social media, so wouldn’t that be considered promotion just like Beachbody clothing?

Hence, the gray area!

These are by no means all the things you can’t write-off when it comes to coaching but this is a list to help you get started in the crazy world known as tax season. As always, if you have a question about Beachbody coaching tax write offs consult a tax professional.

My Experience with the 21 Day Fix Program

I started the 21 Day Fix Program for the first time over July 4th weekend this year. (This may not have been the best time to start a new program but there was a point). I wanted to start the 21-Day Fix before I started half marathon training. Plus, I wanted to give my body a chance to semi-adapt to the workouts before adding in my running. And I want to share my results with you!

Now, I will be honest, I did not follow the meal plan to a T, again had the holiday weekend wrapped in there and we also were watching my 2 ½-year-old cousin on one of the weekends but that didn’t stop me from being mindful of what I was eating and how I was exercising.

Week 1 of 21 Day Fix

The first week of the program was great because I was really beginning to my regain my confidence. I had struggled because I hit a number on the scale that I just wasn’t comfortable with. I didn’t want to use the scale as an excuse but my wakeup call truly was when I read that scale. Seeing the number caused me to start thinking about my eating habits, my fitness level and I realized I had gone off track. I know progress does not happen overnight but after the first week, I was seeing my results which led to me regaining some of that lost confidence.

Week 2 of 21 Day Fix

Now, this week was where things got intense and interesting. I had to do a leg work out after a 5-mile tempo run one morning and Total Body Cardio Fix right after a three mile RP (race-pace) run. Needless to say, I was tired! But I was pushing through. I made sure I was taking extra care to drink a lot of water both during my workouts and on my runs; as well as, post-workout. I also made sure to drink my Shakeology within the hour after working out. Sometimes I flexed on the hour I drank it because I had to get into the office. But the days I was able to work from home, it made all the difference.

Because I was running or doing the elliptical in addition to the 21 Day Fix Program, I knew I needed to eat more. So I was eating a smaller meal every 2-3 hours which helped to fight off my cravings. I would say on an average day, I was eating 5-6 times a day.

Week 3 of 21 Day Fix

Whoa, baby, everything was tired but felt so good. With the addition of double workouts with the program and increasing my mileage for running, my whole body was getting worked each day. All I can say to anyone who is following this program, the double workouts are worth it. You will feel them, you will want to quit, but you can do it! I also started to switch it up with the bonus and remixed workouts available on Beachbody On Demand. These were great because then I wasn’t doing the same double workouts everyday. Core Cardio Remix, holy cow my whole body was sweating!

Overall, the 21 Day Fix Program was a great start to my half marathon training cross training plan. I am running faster times than I ever have and I know it is in large part to the strength training and stretching I have been doing throughout the program. My favorite day of the program was probably Yoga Fix, simply because it forced me to stretch out my entire body.

I would highly recommend the 21-Day Fix Program to anyone who is looking to kick start the health and fitness journey, tone up, or lose weight.

Here are my results:

Where I think you can really notice the difference is in my stomach. My abs are starting to come back after being on hiatus for a while. I think you can also really see a difference in my face. At the end of the d, y I am down approximately 8.5 pounds between the 2 photos in 3 weeks. Part of that is the bloat from not eating as healthy as I should have been and the other is getting my body to move in ways that it hasn’t in awhile. I also want to be very clear, I did not follow the eating plan exactly probably closer to 80/20 but remember, life is about balance.

I also want to be very clear, I did not follow the eating plan exactly. It was probably closer to 80/20 but remember, life is about balance.

This is where you really can see the difference in my gut. My bloat is gone. My arms are slightly more defined and my back is much leaner. (Thanks to all the shoulder work and planks!)

Are You Up for the Challenge?

If you want to learn more about how the 21 Day Fix program can set you on the path to success, please send me an email or leave me a comment (all comments are private until approved) and I promise I will get back to you!

To any runner out there who may be interested in learning more about this program and how to incorporate it into their training plan, let’s connect! I would love to help you develop a plan that is going to get you to the PR you are dreaming about.

Plus, this fall as I get nearer to my race, I am going to be bringing together an entire group of runners who are training for a fall race that are looking for some support; as well as, want to follow a yoga program to help with recovery. If you are interested in being a part of that group, feel free to leave me a comment on this page or send me an email. I would love to have you be a part of the group. Imagine a group of runners all helping to push each other to achieve those race PRs like never before? You are not going to want to miss out.

Beachbody Coach Tax Write Offs: Part 1

As a Beachbody Coach, I first want to say, I am not a tax professional. However, as someone who works in financial services and has been a freelancer for nearly 2 years and has had to pay quarterly taxes, create an itemized list of deductions, and worked with my tax professional, I have a good understanding of what I can deduct from my business and what I certainly cannot.

Becoming a Beachbody Coach has given me so much self-confidence, motivation and drive and I wouldn’t change a thing; however, there are a lot of misconceptions out there that when you have a “business”, even as a discount coach, you can write everything off including what you personally use for your workouts. This is not the case.

If you are thinking about getting into the business it is important to know that you will be a registered contractor and if you make over $600 throughout the course of your first year, you will receive a 1099 form from Beachbody. You should always claim what you make from a business; however, anything under $600 will not receive an official form. If you do make more than $600 than a copy of that official form goes to the IRS just like any other job.

There are many benefits and perks you can receive as a Beachbody Coach including:

  • 25% discount on all things Beachbody
  • Make amazing friends
  • Help so many people reach their health and fitness goals
  • Opportunity to earn free trips, prizes, apparel, swag, the list can go on and on

Through hard work, commitment and dedication to growing your business, you can truly reap the benefits. And these benefits do include the Beachbody Coach tax write off benefits.

What counts as a Beachbody Coach Tax Write Off?

Website Maintenance Fee

You know that Beachbody charges you approximately $15 a month to maintain your personally sponsored Beachbody website. You are able to write this off each month. Just track all of your receipts from Beachbody (credit card statements are fine).

Promotional Gear

Did you know anything you purchase that has the Beachbody logo on it that you wear out to an event, the store, to work out in can be written off? This is because you are using it to advertise the different programs. So feel free to stock up on your Beachbody swag!

Promotional Giveaways

Have you bought something to give away as a prize to one of your challengers or coaches that are crushing it? You can write that off too. Buying a bonus gift to give to someone who signs up for a challenge pack is an acceptable tax write off. For example, when Shift Shop launched in prep for our Bootcamp, I purchased 3 agility markers to give away to my challengers. That is a tax write off.

Social Media Ads

If you have run a social media paid campaign, you are able to write off those expenses; however, you must keep the receipts. Documenting and saving the email that Facebook sends you each month with your bill or your credit card statement will do.

Travel Expenses

If you are going to a business conference or Team Retreat or Offsite, did you know that you can expense everything surrounding that trip? We are talking airfare, mileage, hotels, ticket entry, etc. Again, this is an area you are going to want to talk to your tax professional about to ensure that everything you did during that trip is a write-off expense. For instance, that show you went too may not be covered. Again, talk to a professional.

Office Supplies

Are you writing notes to your challengers or coaches and sending them snail mail? Buying a new notebook for team call nights, pens to take notes? Yep, these are all write-offs too!

Please note, this is not a complete list of the tax write offs you can receive as a Beachbody Coach. If you are questioning if something is or is not a write-off, you should ALWAYS consult a tax professional.

4 Reasons Why I Became a Virtual Beachbody Coach

When I first started following my coach’s story, I knew very little about Beachbody especially virtual Beachbody coaching. But as I followed her story, I instantly connected to her drive and passion for health and fitness. When I told Brian that I was considering signing up for Beachbody his reaction was, oh this is another thing you want to do but he said he would support me. He and I had been doing Insanity together for the past 4 years so without realizing it we were Beachbody users, just not active customers.

So I started doing more research because I was concerned that I would be signing up for a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scam. But quickly, I was able to realize this was different. This was about empowering women and men to take hold of their life and wake up each day and be their best self! This was something I needed in my life. I wanted to surround myself with people who had just as much passion for fitness as I did and share that passion with people who were ready to change their lives or those who were already changing and wanted to share it with others too.

Why I Became a Virtual Beachbody Coach

It is Not About Selling a Product, It is About Helping People

When I saw the energy and passion of the other coaches on my team as they worked to help their challengers meet or exceed their goals, it was electric. I was instantly hooked to that sense of community and teamwork. No one on this team is competing. They are truly working together to help other women (and men) better themselves. That can mean through challenge groups, sharing their love and passion for health and fitness, coaching 1:1, free groups that teach others about the benefits of nutrition or self-love. The focus was never on a scale, it was on the non-scale victories and loving yourself.

I am a Product of the Product

Unlike many other MLMs, I am helping change people’s lives but I am also changing my own life. I use Beachbody On Demand practically every day. I also drink my Shakeology daily because of the way it makes me feel. This is typically my first meal of the day and I eat a normal breakfast about two hours after. I have received my results from using the portion containers, from working out with the programs, following the programs or mixing it up with normal cardio. I never feel like I am selling a product because I know they work and I actually use them myself. In many MLMs, people do not use the products they are selling so they are just talking about benefits others have had with them or they have been taught to say.

I have a Supportive Beachbody Coach Community

The team I am a part of, everything from my personal team of challengers and coaches, my direct Upline team and my coach’s Upline team have been amazing. Having seasoned coaches you can lean on is important as you just start out because you can learn from their mistakes. I have never once felt alone in this business.

What did I have to Lose?

Becoming a virtual Beachbody coach has changed my life. It has given me a community that empowers and motivates me to reach my goals both personally and professionally. When I thought about coaching, I knew the fitness products worked, even though I had never tried Shakeology, I had seen the results others were getting and wanted to try it. By becoming a coach, I knew that would give me a discount on the products (25% off anything)! Plus, if I could help others while holding myself accountable to reach my goals that was the ultimate benefit. The money was only secondary.

Why You May Want to Consider Becoming a Virtual Beachbody Coach

If you are already an advocate of programs like P90x, Shaun Week, 21 Day Fix or Shakeology, why not get paid for talking about them to your friends? The worst that can happen is that you get a discount on your product you are already buying? Even if you aren’t familiar with the Beachbody family but are driven to help others and have a passion for health and fitness, we should talk! Health and Fitness coaching may just be the perfect way for you to feel fulfilled.

I promise this is not always going to be easy. It may take you a few months to get that first yes from a customer or it may take you only a few hours. Everyone is different. But you if you are passionate, honest, and motivated about health and fitness, you can succeed in this company. Being a Virtual Beachbody Coach is all about building trust with your challengers and coaches and building each other up. Remember, you may never meet your challengers in person.

If you would like to learn more about coaching or joining our team, I would love to talk with you and introduce you to some of the amazing coaches on the team that you would also get to work with. We do this through a Coaching Sneak Peak. Send me an email so we can let you know when the next one is! Remember, not all Beachbody teams are the same. Our community is 600+ women strong made up of both coaches and challengers and we areonly going to continue to grow. We would love to have you be a part of our journey!

12-Week Half Marathon Training Plan

Since March of 2015, I have run 1 full marathon and run 4 half marathons. Currently, I am training for 2 October 2017 half marathons. One is the Corning Wineglass Half in Corning, NY and the other is the Urban Bourbon Half in Louisville, KY. I am looking forward to both for different reasons and wanted to share my 12-week half marathon training plan that I have developed for myself.

Corning Wine Glass Half Marathon

This will be the first of the two races. This is a beautiful course that I have run the previous 2 years. I have my current half marathon PR on this course at about 2:10. I have every intention of breaking that with the half marathon training plan I have developed. This is also a race I will be running with my sister. I am really looking forward to it because it is her first half ever. So we get to share that experience together with the end goal of crossing the finish line, hand-in-hand.

Urban Bourbon Half Marathon

This race will be a real test of my fitness since I will be running it alone (well Brian is technically running it to; however, he is SUPER speedy). Plus, it is pretty hilly. If for whatever reason I don’t go sub-2 at Corning, I WILL BE GOING SUB-2 in Louisville. And if I do go sub-2 at Corning, I will push to break that new PR. The training in between the two races will be designed to recover, maintain and prepare. Nothing too crazy or strenuous.

Now, let me be clear, I do not train with a coach, but I do want to share with you, my half marathon training plan that I am following throughout this journey and how I will be incorporating key cross-training elements and stretching to ensure I have a safe training cycle.

Cross Training

For my cross-training, I use a number of different techniques to ensure my muscles stay loose and strong. One of the programs I use is Beachbody On Demand. I love following these programs throughout a training cycle because they force me to stretch, they keep me strong in all of my key muscle groups including my core, and they are quick and easy to do at home. All I need is 30 minutes a day and I usually do them right after my runs.

Not only do I like Beachbody On Demand but I also love Shakeology because of the way it makes me feel post-workout. I feel stronger, healthier, and fitter because it gives me all the key nutrients that I need including over 70 SuperFoods!

If you are considering signing up for either of these, I highly recommend signing up for a Challenge Pack because it will give you such a great introduction into the products but also set you on the path to reaching your goals and seeing that PR on race day!

I am running some of my fastest times right now because of these programs and products. If you are interested, let’s talk because I want to make sure you are selecting the right challenge pack for you and your needs!

My 12 Week Half Marathon Training Plan

Disclaimer: I designed this program based on a few training programs that I have tried in the past and have built it to work for me and my needs. I have also incorporated the Beachbody workouts that I wanted to and felt would work best for me at each point in training.

The following is a breakdown of my goal times for each of the different workout methods based on a projected finish time of just under 2 hours.

Why Runners Should Use Beachbody

As a runner, do you struggle with making the time to get in your strength training? What about cross-training? As someone who has been there and knows that after or before a long run, the last thing I want to do is pick up a weight. I was looking for a solution that would fit in my schedule and get me the results I wanted. This is where Beachbody On Demand has been my savior.

Cross Training for Runners

Not only does it provide me with variety to change up my cross-training but it targets key muscles that runners need to develop. What is even better is that there is something for every kind of runner. If you are looking for a low-impact workout, the 21-Day Fix can be done with or without modifications. If you are looking for a high intensity, weight workout, P90x or Insanity may just be the thing for you. Got more cardio on the mind, give Max:30 a chance.

My Runner Story

I am currently training for 2 half marathons that are coming up in October. The Corning Wineglass (the 3rd time I will be doing this race) will be my first chance at a PR this year. I am looking to go sub-2 for the first time which will be a 10-minute distance PR and course PR. And then I will be racing the Urban Bourbon Half in Louisville, KY which I am so excited about.

The key for me is making sure I am staying strong and healthy to make sure that I reach my goals. When I ran my first marathon, I got hurt during the training program because I was skipping my stretching and strength training.

Beachbody On Demand Workouts for Runners

As runners, we are putting a lot of pressure and stress on our joints, yoga is a critical part of my recovery days. With Beachbody On Demand, I can take my yoga with me on the go and press play whenever I need it. If I am at my boyfriend’s baseball game or even on my lunch break at work, I can pull out my phone and get a great yoga stretch in, in just 30 minutes.

If you are looking for something that really focuses on core strength and balance. PiYo may be the perfect solution for you because it combines all the stuff you love about Pilates with the benefits of Yoga.

Currently, I am doing the 21-Day Fix because I wanted to reset my system while adding in that lower impact, lower weight workouts as I kick off my 12-week half training. So, I will be doing that for the first 3 weeks of training. But then I am super excited about the launch of Shift Shop to continue working on my speed and agility.

There is still time to be part of our Test Group, send me an email if you are interested, we are starting July 24th!  I will follow this for the next 3 weeks of my training. Then I am considering either Core de Force or Max:30 for the next round; however, I want to make sure I can take it easy for the last few weeks of training so I don’t burn out my legs since they will be higher mileage weeks. So what I will most likely end up doing is 21-Day Fix Extreme.

My Beachbody On Demand Half Marathon Training Schedule

  • 1-3: 21 Day Fix
  • 4-6: Shift Shop
  • 7-9: 21 Day Fix Extreme
  • 10-12: 21 Day Fix (No Doubles during the Last Week)
  • 13-15 (time in between the two races): 21 Day Fix Extreme (or Regular) depending on how I feel!

Then this winter I will plan on taking some time off from serious running. Probably running only 2-3 times a week at lower mileage and focus on a longer program. Potentially Max:30 or Core de Force.

If you are a fellow runner and are struggling with what to do on those cross-training days, I have been there! I was you. If you are making excuses not to stretch, I have been you. I made the same excuses. Long run days already take up so much of your time, why take up more. I promise it matters. Let’s talk about how we can customize a Beachbody Program so that come race day you are crossing that finish line with a PR! Send me a message in the comments or email me.

Why I Became a Beachbody Coach

Nowadays, I receive lots of questions about why I signed up as a Beachbody Coach. There are so many misnomers out there in the market about the company that people want to know. But mainly they want to learn a few things about what I do.

  • What do you do as a coach?
  • Why would you want to become a coach?

So I wanted to take the time to answer some of these questions for you. And if you are considering Beachbody as either a business opportunity or as a potential customer looking to get in the best shape of their life while being surrounded by a virtual community, I want to help make that dream a reality.

What do you do as a coach?

Coaching for Fitness

As a coach, who also works full-time in financial services and part-time doing freelance marketing, it is all about empowering others to turn their dreams into reality in the time that I make to commit to my business. We all know someone who wants to lose weight but just sits around complaining about it. My job is to help them see that in just 30 minutes a day, they can lose that stubborn belly fat and get the body they always want. Through accountability groups, programs and inspirational messages, I work to keep my challengers on track and motivated so they stick with their workout plan. The community I am a part of is 600+ strong which can be intimidating at first until you realize, they are motivating you to get your workout in each morning or night.

They are also there to support you in making healthy decisions. Most (not all of the group) drinks Shakeology which is a delicious protein and nutrient-packed shake that you can turn into a smoothie as well. A lot of our team also uses Energize which is a pre-workout designed to get you up and moving.

Coaching Other Coaches

The other part of coaching is coaching coaches on my team. As a Beachbody Coach, you can personally sponsor coaches that are looking to grow the business and learn from both you and your own personal sponsor. This is how you can really start to grow your own business.

I love helping and empowering people to become financially independent especially those with the drive to help others. Those people who are already fitness savvy, posting on Instagram and Facebook about working out and eating healthy make great starter coaches.

But you don’t have to be in shape to be a coach. Maybe you are starting your fitness journey, why not start it as a coach helping others because it will only help hold you accountable!

Why would you want to become a coach?

I wanted to become a coach because I want to help people on their health and fitness journeys. I love coaching high school basketball because I love the game. But I also love it because I find gratification in seeing the light go on in someone’s head when they get it. I found that same spark in Beachbody coaching because there are so many people out there that are looking to find their spark. When you can be the one that provides them the motivation to find it, it is an incredible feeling!

But I also wanted to hold myself to a higher standard with my diet, my health, and my fitness. Posting on social media every day is important for my own accountability but it is also important when it comes to our groups. When I see my challengers kicking ass and working out early, it makes me want to get up and workout!

If you have been thinking about joining a Beachbody team and have questions, I want to help you. I know, when I first got started, I had a lot of questions and want to make sure yours get answered.

Is Shakeology Worth the Price?

Let me be the first one to say, I used to be that girl that said, “$4 for a simple protein shake, that’s crazy!” Until I tried Shakeology for the first time. There is probably only one protein/meal replacement that I have had that tastes better than this, which is Ideal Fit and I had tried a lot of brands. Shakeology is designed to get you the nutrients you need to get you through the morning while still tasting good.

Shakeology is designed to get you the nutrients you need to get you through the morning while still tasting good.

I also want to say, this is not a meal replacement if you are a high intensity, endurance athlete. If you are a runner, this would be a great snack for after running and sitting down to stretch and then shower before having a proper breakfast. Most coaches will tell you that they are not drinking the shakes as full meals. Instead, they are drinking them as part of the 21-day fix. On the program, you are free to divide your “containers” up as you please throughout the day.

21 Day Fix

This program is designed for you to start eating the number of calories, nutrients, and vitamins you are supposed to get in a given day. I really do enjoy this program because I like eating by color.

Shakeology counts as one protein throughout the day on the program.

If you are doing say the 21-Day Fix workout program alone from Beachbody On Demand, you may be able to count your Shakeology as a meal in itself. I am currently half marathon. On top of that, I am doing the 21-Day Fix so it doesn’t work for that purpose for me but everyone is different.

What Shakeology has done for me is allowed me to cut out coffee with sugar and flavored creamer. I went from drinking 3 cups a day to just one because I like the taste of coffee. Now, I just take it black or with almond milk and a scoop of BCAAs.

It has also curbed my sweet tooth so I am eating less sugary snacks in the evening.

So what makes Shakeology worth the price?

I have always been the person who goes to Starbucks, orders my $5 drink and enjoys it. But 2 hours later I am hungry despite slurping down a 500+ calorie drink. So if I am willing to pay that, why shouldn’t I be willing to fuel my body instead? That is exactly the justification I make when subscribing to Shakeology.

Shakeology vs. Starbucks

shakeologyIf you want to learn more about how to incorporate Shakeology into your health and fitness routines, I want to hear from you!
